Smile for Therapy Initiative
We believe in listening to and learning from the local communities and in exchange of ideas, experiences, information and ways of working internally, with other agencies and stakeholders.
We believe in Honesty, the upholding of high moral principles and ethical behavior at all times. We respect the rule of law, fairplay, openness, equitability and consistency in all our engagements.
We believe in being open, answerable and transparent especially to communities that we serve and to our partners and donors.
We recognize participation as the core aspect in achieving sustainable and community owned projects. We encourage the active participation of the local communities especially children & youth living with disabilities, caregivers and other stakeholders in all the activities including decision making and development.
Smile for Therapy Initiative is a project initiated by PCFSO, a registered in Kenya in 2009 as a national Non-Governmental Organization to primarily support children and youth living with disabilities in Kenya.
Smile for Therapy Initiative’s main object is to empower the children and youth (LWD) in their communities through education, therapy, caregiver training, mobility aids, corrective surgeries and resource mobilization; using Self Help concept for sustainable development and transformation.
Smile for Therapy Initiative envisions children and youth LWD managing and enjoying their sustained growth, mobility and development in order to live independent lives in a sustainable way.
We consider target communities as partners who have specific role and influence in the activities, rather than simple beneficiaries. We believe that however much we are committed to contributing to development, it is only through useful partnerships and networks that we can hope to impact holistically given the multifaceted needs of young people and the intricacies of their communities. To achieve their Smile for Therapy Initiative works together with the like-minded organizations and groups, locally and internationally in an effort to achieve its mission.
We recognizes that each person has a role to play and has something of value to contribute towards the achievement of our mission. We recognize that these individual capacities are however strengthened in teams which we seek to promote.
Result Oriented:
Smile for Therapy Initiative believes that in order for us to achieve the required impact and effectiveness on our target communities we must be focused on our results, and ensure our activities and efforts are result oriented.
